On Friday, August 9, 2024, I filed to be a candidate for Richland School District One At-Large position.
My campaign is about providing a fresh perspective and offering an alternative to what we currently have.
I pledge to listen, observe, gather and assess factual information and make decisions based on what I believe is in the best interest of our students and what’s in the best interest of the School District.
Our District is doing amazing things, but we could be doing so much more for our students. First and foremost, we should be asking ourselves if the decision we are making is what's best for our students and the District and ultimately our students must be our first priority.
We need to hear the good and the bad of every issue brought before us to avoid the clouds of doubt and suspicion that continuously hover over our district. Transparency should be our friend, not our foe!
My name is John Black and I humbly ask for your support and most importantly your vote on November 5 to bring a fresh perspective while we work together to disperse the hovering clouds above.

Why I am running
I am running because we need a fresh perspective to help guide our district forward. We MUST do what is necessary to disperse the dark clouds that continuously hover over Richland One.
Transparency should be our friend, not our foe! We MUST remove the barriers and operate in a manner that leaves no questions about what is going on or what we are trying to do.
